Cascading Rivers – Killer Fang Ride – September 28 – 29, 2019Bike Ride

Aptly named for a treacherous rapid where the Clackamas River dives beneath a house sized boulder to reappear a hundred feet downstream this route is designed for seasoned riders with some time devoted to ascending and descending in mountain terrain. The route follows highway 224 East to Ripplebrook store beside four nationally designated wild and scenic streams and then heads South on Forest Road 46 along the cascades backbone where the Clackamas’ threatened and endangered salmon and steelhead still spawn onward to Detroit a distance of 72 miles. The routes elevation gain is 3,100 feet from Estacada and 1,900 returning from Detroit but mostly of 6 to 7% grades. After an overnight stay in a state park or lodging in Detroit the route returns to Estacada on Sunday. The ride includes 2 boxed lunches, a dinner and breakfast in Detroit and an evening meal with beverage in Estacada. A shuttle provides service between the campsite and Detroit Saturday night. Ride starts at 8AM on both 9/28 and 9/29.
