Visit Marion Forks Fish Hatchery

Marion Forks Fish Hatchery is one of more than 30 hatcheries operated by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. It is located approximately 18 miles west of Detroit.

Marion Forks Hatchery rears around 300,000 Trout to be stocked in Detroit Lake. 665,000 Spring Chinook are reared for release in the N. Santiam River below Big Cliff Dam. They rear around 800,000 Spring Chinook to be transferred to Clackamas Hatchery. Cutthroat Trout are reared for the high lakes around the area.

Marion Forks Fish Hatchery also runs Minto Salmon Facility, located approximately 14 miles east of Detroit on Highway 22. Here you can view adult Spring Chinook Salmon during the months June thru September. Chinook spawning takes place late September and early October at the Minto Salmon Facility.
