Fishing  Detroit  Lake

Detroit provides many easily accessible locations for avid fishermen. There are many fishing spots around Detroit Lake that can be very good from the shore.  Fishing from the dam provides the easiest access with some very good fishing action.  Hover campground/day use area located on the Santiam River Arm has a very long ADA accessible fishing dock in a good fishing location. Other good areas are any where a creek or river empties into the lake, like Tumble Creek, French Creek, and the Breitenbush River.

Detroit Lake offers excellent fishing for Rainbow Trout, Kokanee, Land-Lock Chinook, and a few Bullhead Catfish

There are many high lakes located in the Detroit area, which are stocked during the year. The high lakes are also open year round, but winter conditions make these lakes inaccessible during the winter months.
