Mongold Day Use Area

Mongold Day Use area is approximately 1-1/2 miles west of Detroit Lake State Park Campground. It is the only public boat launch facility on the lake that features a swim area, grass beach, picnic facilities and restrooms. Mongold is a year around day use fee area. The fees are $3.00 per vehicle, per day. There is an ATM machine at the entrance to the day use area for visitor convenience. A day use booth is usually operated on busy weekends. Day use visitors can purchase a 12 month day use pass for $25.00 or a 24 month pass for $40.00, this entitles you to enter all the State Park day use areas during the year for no additional charge.

Parking Overnight:
Overnight parking at Mongold is permitted only when the visitor is camping on Piety Island, or overnight on the shoreline that is accessible only by boat. The day use visitor is responsible for purchasing a daily pass and making sure the pass is current and visible in the windshield of the vehicle. There is no overnight security to patrol vehicles left at Mongold.

Visitor Tip:
On hot, sunny weekends Mongold can run out of parking spaces by 10:30am.  If you are planning to use the day use area on a day like this, you should plan to arrive at the park by 9am or earlier.
